Frequently Asked Questions
My lift is close to the right spot but not positioned exactly the way I want it
If you have not had your boat on your lift yet this year, it might be able to be moved by hand. Push it down as low as possible to see if you can reposition it. Sometimes they move from the wind or waves before they are set into the sand by the weight of your boat. If it is still too far out of place, give us a call.
If you have a specific spot you want it lined up with the pier, mark the pier with tape before the spring installation of your lift so our crew will see where you want it lined up.
The hydraulic lift wont go down and it makes a screeching/whining sound
Check that the hydraulics are turned on - Counterclockwise to open (turn on) right outside of the pump box. Hewitts are a power down hydraulic system, they will not just go down because of the check valve.
The hydraulic lift went down over a long period of time
There is most likely a leak in the hose. The check valve in the system will not allow the lift to go down unless told to go down, or a leak is causing it to lose fluid. Shut any valves that you can and give us a call.
My lift goes up when it should be going down
You may have unwound and rewound the cables so they are now working backwards. Keep winding in the direction you want to be going (either with the wheel, the key, or the remote) until the lift reverses back to normal. In the future, always turn CLOCKWISE TO RAISE THE LIFT and COUNTERCLOCKWISE TO LOWER THE LIFT.
